CHENGDU, China, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- Xinjiang put on a defensive-minded game to best Shanghai 68-53 in the Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) league here on Wednesday.
Jiangsu played a more aggressive game in Tuesday's faceoff with Shanghai, which had led the championship group before the third round. In the 70th minute, Wu Chengshu received a pass from the left side and rifled an effort into the net, helping Jiangsu gain a 1-0 lead.
Several players are still only 16 or 17 years old but have become valuable members of the team since the start of the season. With only one victory in three rounds, the young and ambitious Bratislava is currently in fourth position.
Figures might indicate that recovery for the struggling club could take longer than expected. But the former Augsburg manager came up with motivating words after the team's 19th consecutive game without a victory.
"I think I played a really good match. I was very aggressive. I knew from last year I had to change something, so I really wanted to be better than last year and definitely, I was today," said the world No. 2.
"We contained their three-pointer shooting quite well," Dongguan coach Lin Yaosen reflected.
Fiorentina loanee Pedro put the hosts ahead with a low strike before Bruno Henrique converted from the penalty spot after a Leo Gomes handball.
Against Huesca and Villarreal, Atletico showed their old problems as they struggled to create chances against well-organized rivals, while Suarez looked sluggish.
"Li Xiaopeng will take up the posts of vice manager and technical director of Luneng instead of head coach due to health reasons," said the club.
"Scoring goals gives us confidence. It is a great victory," said PSG head coach Thomas Tuchel.
Vanderlei Luxemburgo's men are now third in the 20-team Serie A standings, just two points behind leader Atletico Mineiro, who has a game in hand.
